About Me
I graduated from Houghton College (located in South Western New York state) in 2009 with a BA in Visual Art and a concentration in Ceramics. My career goal is to be a studio potter, and create both functional and sculptural ceramics. I am currently living with my husband near Baltimore Maryland, and I work at The Annapolis Pottery as a studio assistant, and also in the shop which showcases work made on site as well as work from over 60 skilled artists.

My Artist's Statement
I create art as a reflection of nature. Seemingly insignificant things like the shape of a tree, the way a plant grows, or the texture of a root impact the concepts behind the design of each piece I create. I try to incorporate subtle curves as well as more pronounced curves because contrast of form is very important to my body of work. I create my pieces in such a way that while various elements may be very different, they work together to complement one another. The primary example of this would be the very thin base that is contrasted with the widely flared rim. While each of these elements is beautiful on their own, I feel that the beauty is multiplied when these two design elements relate to each other within a piece.
I strive to stay aware of new ideas and possibilities that I can incorporate into my art so that my concepts and processes will grow better as I work.
